This post, a video from the NBC6 Sports Profile, is a gift for Yaakov Yisroel Goldberger, in honor of the occasion of getting his braces off.
There is a lot to like about this clip. One of the things I like is that it reminds me that a guy who is good a sports can make a decision to become a spiritual inspiration. Much like your father, Yaakov.
Another thing I like is that Shlomo doesn't regret who he was. I was taught by your father, among other loving teachers, that Hashem does not make mistakes: ba'alei teshuva come to Yiddishkeit with the baggage they needed to make the trip. It's how they choose to use that baggage that counts.
Hat tip to Dovid Eastman
P. S. Her name is Daniella Tikva.
Thank you for your warm words of welcome in your comments and emails to our precious little girl.
May we all together share many joyous moments!
Glossary:
Ba'alei teshuva: Jews who begin to observe religious practice -- literally "masters of returning [to observance]"
Yiddishkeit: Judaism (in Yiddish)

Daniela Tikva, a beautiful name for a beautiful, precious little girl! May she inspire hope, embody hope, impart hope and strengthen hope all the 120 years of her life.
Mazel Tov again and again!
Love,
Tanta Shalomis and Uncle Elie

Very true! I find that many teachers of new BT's have a tendency to tell the BT to throw out everything from their past. Then one day, 15 years down the line, they realize that they threw out the baby along with the dirty bathwater. IE, their unugue personality they squashed and their talents they ignored. I find it much more prudent to encourage rechaneling of the past.....
What a BEAUTIFUL name for a beautiful little girl. May you ALL merit to raise her and those to come to Torah, Chuppah and Ma'asim Tovim. Can't say it better than that.
And we loved the video, too. It was a hit in my office, and with my friend in Wisconsin, too. :)
A beautiful story....and a beautiful little girl.
Mazal tov! An Eastman girl! I'm sure that she will be very tzanuah, holding her skirt down as she climbs trees and houses. :) You must be over the moon.
Yaakov is pre bar mitzvah, so he doesn't write thank yous yet, but we all enjoyed this post very much at our Sunday family practice meet. Beautiful name, beautiful baby!! May you all continue to bask in her glow!! Nachas always, mazal tov!
